Another Fine Mess Welcomes Jordy van den Nieuwendijk

May 17 2017
We are pleased to announce that Dutch artist, Jordy van den Nieuwendijk, has joined the Another Fine Mess artist roster.

Jordy van den Nieuwendijk is a Dutch illustrator and painter. His whimsically colorful works are instantly recognizable, and he is one of the most sought-out and productive artists of today.

Nieuwendijk studied art at the Graphic Lyceum in Rotterdam and the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague, but he dabbled in the art of painting much before that, drawing pictures for classmates and painting graffiti. He gained popularity in 2009 and has hardly stopped working since.

His painting style has been compared to jazz music – simple, straightforward, passionate and joyful. His designs are witty and funny, drawn in bright primary colors, reminiscent of all things simple and lovely. His strokes are natural and whimsical, doodles and squiggles and swirls, in perfect harmony with Nieuwendijk’s quirky nature – the artist held a funeral for his own alter ego back in his schooldays in a wish to be reborn in the artistic sense.

Nieuwendijk has been commissioned for work by an impressive and ever-increasing number of brand names, among which are included Hermes, VOGUE, Red Bull, Vanity Fair, ELLE, Casio, Agnes B, Converse and many others. He has been featured in numerous group exhibitions, with a number of solo exhibitions. Apart from painting, Nieuwendijk teaches drawing classes at the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague to first year students of Graphic Design.

Another Fine Mess Welcomes Clemens Behr

February 17 2017
We are pleased to announce that German artist, Clemens Behr, has joined the Another Fine Mess artist roster.

Clemens Behr has cultivated his predilection for DIY strategies around the world, characterized by an intensive exploration of the public space, equipped with an inclination towards everyday materials such as wood and cardboard and a large portion of improvisation. Flexibility, modesty that borders on needlessness, intuition and courage for appropriation and misappropriation are the characteristic dispositions that characterize his artist profile. Behr studied at the UDK in Berlin.

At the core of Behr's mostly space-specific work, which is equally localized both inside and outside, is the principle of collage and its spatial unfolding in the assemblage. In the manner of a bricolage, Clemens Behr produces partly enormous installations, wall sculptures and sculptures from finds, remnants of social use, waste from the streets, objects trouvés and generally reused materials.

Behr has shown his works around the world including solo shows at Clockwise, Loom Gallery, Milan, Mirus Galerie, San Francisco, Mini Galerie, Amsterdam, Underdogs Gallery, Lisboa, Lynfabrikken Box Aarhus, Denmark, Karena Schuessler Gallery, Berlin, Akershus Kunstsenter Lillestroem, Norway, Special Purpose Solutions, Rojo Artspace, Milan, Lieux-Communs, Namur, Belgium, Flat Forest, Sun Gallery, Munich, and Galerie Seize, Marseille.

We are pleased to announce that German artist, Malte Zenses, has joined the Another Fine Mess artist roster.

Malte Zenses lives and works in Berlin. With ironic nonchalance, his work expands the vocabulary of abstract painting and new realism by pointedly integrating the zeitgeist of his generation through autobiographical fragments. Precisely placed letters and characters become ciphers of experiences behind what is visible. Since the beginning of his studies, Zenses has exhibited his projects around the world - most recently in Cologne, Hamburg, Lucerne, Nuremberg, Los Angeles and New York. He has been studying at the Kunstakdemie Düsseldorf under Andreas Schulze since 2014. Zenses previously studied at the Hochschule für Gestaltung in Offenbach under Wolfgang Luy.
