ARTIST BIO
Dan Monick is an American photographer and director who lives and works in Los Angeles. Renowned for his raw 35mm portraits, Monick is also a constant creator of personal work which showcases his fascination with his adopted city LA. Monick has exhibited at galleries in the US, Europe, and Japan including Showboat Gallery, Slow Culture, THIS:Los Angeles, Subliminal Projects, Soo Visual Arts Center, Nevven Gallery and Voilld Gallery. Gingko Press published Monick’s first book Seven Years with Atmosphere and Rhymsayers and his second book, Every Payphone On Sunset Blvd was selected as part of Ed Ruscha's Books & Co. exhibition. Monick co-founded independent publishing imprints F/S Press and Cash Machine, the latter through which he released his third monograph Psychic Windows. Monick's work has been commissioned by numerous commercial and editorial clients.
